“Celebrating Women in Functional Art”

The opening reception will be Sat, March 3rd from 11-4.
March is Women’s History Month, an exciting time for us at the Little Loomhouse, and we will be celebrating all month long starting with the Opening Reception for Celebrating Women in Functional Art on Saturday, March 3rd, from 11am-4pm. The Lou Tate Gallery will feature the works of Maria Tinnell, Judy Sharpe (Lady J), Lisa Dupree, Judy Goodwin, Clare Hirn and Thea Henry. Esta Cabin will include the archives from the 2017 New Cut Road Mural Project, and the 2017 State Fair winning artists: Sylvia Arnold-Kinsfather, Debbie Striegal, Kathy McWilliams, and Violet Stines. The exhibition will continue through March 31st, Opening Reception is free and open to the public.

In addition, The Loomhouse will host two lectures in our Top House Cabin as a part of our ongoing Lecture Series. On Saturday, March 17, 2 pm, Sabra Lynne Crockett will be speaking about the New Cut Road Mural Project, made possible by Council Women Vicki Aubrey Welch and the Center of Neighborhoods PAINT project. On Saturday, March 31st We will host a panel of speakers on Women in Politics. The panel includes Dolores Delanhanty, the founding member of the National Women’s Political Caucus, State Representative McKenzie Cantrell, and Nicole George, candidate for the District 21 Metro Council seat. Lectures are suggested donation $5 members/$10 non-members, with proceeds going to our restoration efforts.
